About The Caregivers

Discover Home Care works with a dedicated professional team of caregivers. No matter their high level of experience, we provide specialized training here at our own facility to ensure they are the cream of the crop. Our caregivers work under the direct supervision of our RNs to ensure the highest standards of care and safest services and all of them are carefully screened, insured and bonded by us. Discover Home Care is responsible for paying their employee taxes and workers compensation.

Discover Home Care is on-call 24 hours a day. In the event of an emergency and your caregiver calls out, we work diligently to find a replacement for your caregiver.

Discover Home Care requires all of our caregivers to become Certified Companion Aides. Developed by "The Senior's Choice," CCA is a 19-module program that covers important aspects of the aging process and geriatric health. Topics covered include Infection Control and Standard Precautions, Safety and Body Mechanics, and Providing Personal Care. To acquire the designation of "Certified Companion Aide," each caregiver must pass all 19 modules. Discover Home Care is the only agency in Tri-Cities that provides this unique training program.

Initial and refresher training is provided in Alzheimer's care, body mechanics, and infection control. Every caregiver is sent bi-weekly written communications that include articles related to senior care, company policies, and words of encouragement. Our training programs provide our caregivers with the information and skills needed to perform care tasks at a high level while also inspiring compassion and empathy for those they serve.

Our Nurses

Under the leadership of Grace Yancey, RN, our team of skilled nurses provides oversight and expertise to our caregivers and the people we care for. They perform initial assessments and prepare the care plan for each client. Periodic phone calls and visits to our clients ensure that the care remains appropriate and that any changes in medical condition or medications are updated in the care plan. They communicate with the client's primary care physician about the care we are providing. Family members and patients alike are always welcome to call our nurses for non-emergency medical issues.
